Pumping is an art that takes patience. Once you can control all three axis’s well its actually pretty easy to do. Speed is key, without it no one could pump. Pumping the wake behind a boat builds this confidence and when you can master this technique the whole ocean becomes a large skateboard park with endless possibilities.

Simply riding the small wake generated by the board teaches you to find that SWEET spot where the energy is stored. This is where you experiment with weight distribution not only between front and rear foot, but sideways as well. So often i see a student hunched with their weight basically over the rail and therefore having to make a lot of adjustments to correct for it. Video replay of how you’re standing will help solve this problem fast.

It’s an amazing feeling flying on a downward run, you’re going close to 20 knots at times and there’s only the sound of the water travelling past your mast. If you haven’t tried it you dont know what you’re missing.
